Thousands of people across Carlow, Kilkenny and the rest of Ireland are being hit with unexpectedly large inheritance tax bills this year.
Rising property prices are pushing many people over the threshold for the amount you can inherit before tax which has dropped from 500 thousand euro to 225.
Speaking to KCLR, Kilkenny tax consultant with O’Neill Foley, Alan Seery, says he’s hopeful that next year’s budget will address this issue.
