The EU Agriculture Commissioner says the removal of EU milk quotas will create an opportunity for Irish farmers to increase their prosperity.
Phil Hogan has dismissed concerns that increased milk production will flood the market across the European Union.
EU milk production quotas will end next Wednesday after 32 years.
Commissioner Hogan says even though milk production has increased by 5-point-5 per-cent in the past year, it hasn’t effected the price in the shops.
