Tonight’s show was an all ladies affair covering painting, scuplting, music and theatre.
Up first was Gowran-based sculptor Julie Moorhouse who unveils her life-sized sculpture of St. Sebastian, a project that began last autumn. The statue, along with other works by Julie will be on display at the Norman Gallery near Enniscorthy from this weekend onwards. On the phone from County Clare while she oversees the finishing touches on the St. Sebastian piece, we got the background to Julie’s work as a painter and the transition back to sculpting after a long absence.
The lovely Fionnula Gill joined me in studio for a chat about her debut album Whispers Of Love, available around the country now. On the playback you’ll get an insight into Fionnuala’s career to date, her work with Anuna, Riverdance, Secret Garden and the transition from the big stage to the solo album and everything that happens in between.
My final guest tonight was Maggie Gallagher of Curious Tail Theatre Company (her own company) but our chat tonight was about her work with Carlow Youth Theatre who are getting set for their end of season show. With both a junior and senior strand having devised and developed their own shows for the GB Shaw on Tuesday coming, it sounds like Maggie is running a great programme in Carlow and they’ll be opening things up again in September. Get more details here.
If you’ve any questions about any of the segments on tonight’s show or indeed if you’ve got anything you wish to submit for future shows, drop me an email on [email protected].
