Calls for a reduced rate of VAT charged on defibrillators

Reduce the percentage of VAT that’s added to the cost of defibrillators.

That’s the call from campaign group Beating Again as today marks the third annual National CPR Day.

At the moment the life-saving devices cost anywhere in the region of 2,000 euro – and the group says 23% VAT is charged on them.

Speaking to KCLR News, Jim Hartnett from the group says this needs to be brought down.
