There are calls for more safety measures outside a North Kilkenny primary school.
Councillor Mary Hilda Cavanagh says she received a letter from the board of management of Johnstown National School recently outlining the concerns of parents.
The school is on the side of a busy road in the town – the main road from Johnstown to Rathdowney.
A safety audit was carried out about 10 years ago after which a number of measures were put in place, such as flashing lights and a 30 kilometre speed limit.
Speaking to KCLR News Councillor Cavanagh says she’s ideally looking for signs telling drivers the speed they’re doing to be put in place.
And she says that if plans for a new playground on the other side of the road get the go-ahead it will make that area even busier.
