Carlow county council will open its offices next Monday to businesses who need help with confusion over their rates.
Letters issued to local businesses in Carlow and Kilkenny on Friday last from the Dublin revaluation centre.
It’s all part of a new system of evaluating commercial rates that will apply from January 2018.
Proposed Valuation Certificates were issued to approximately 1,800 ratepayers in Carlow and 2,500 in Kilkenny.
Those who are satisfied with their proposed valuation do not have to respond to the Valuation Office.
Ratepayers who are dissatisfied with any material aspect of the Proposed Valuation Certificate may make representations to the valuation manager up to and including 19th June 2017.
Carlow based Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor told KCLR news that over 90% of business are not happy with the letter.
Carlow County Council will hold an open meeting at their offices on Monday, May 22nd from 9.30am to 4.30pm to help address any confusion.
