Farmers in Carlow will fight the closure of the local Boortmalt intake point.
It has been revealed that the Bagenalstown plant is to shut with the company proposing that local growers store their barley for transport instead to Athy.
The building is now being advertised to let on a property website for €100,000 per annum.
However, farmers are reluctant to agree to that proposal.
County Chairman of Carlow IFA George Collier told KCLR News today that it has come as a huge blow to local growers.
