Carlow’s Jennifer Murnane O’ Connor says people in the South East are being treated like second class citizens when it comes to cardiac care.
The Senator raised the matter this week in light of the death of Waterford man Thomas Power who didnt survive the ambulance journey to Cork for specialist treatment on Sunday.
Its led to renewed calls for the existing Cath Lab in Waterford Hospital to open 24/7.
Speaking in the Seanad Senator Murnane O’ Connor called on the Health Minister to make this happen
Meanwhile South Kilkenny Councillors have written to Minister Simon Harris on the same matter.
A letter from the members of Kilkenny county council that sit on the Piltown Municipal District is in the post calling on the Minister to address the matter and implement 24/7 cardiac care in Waterford.
