Almost half of speeding motorists dodged a court appearance in the past two years because their summonses weren’t served.
The Irish Independent reports that out of almost 67,000 speeding cases listed between January 2015 and last October, around 31,000 were struck out for non-delivery of a summons.
2,035 speeding cases were reported in Kilkenny, but 872 of the summonses weren’t served.
Meanwhile, the numbers in Carlow were significantly lower with with 1,034 speeding cases reported, and 449 summonses not served.
That amounts to 43% of cases in the two counties being struck out.
