Towns and villages from Carlow and Kilkenny that won prizes in this year’s Tidy Towns competition were presented with their awards last night.
Winners from the South East region gathered in Nenagh for the ceremony.
The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Michael Ring handed out the awards to many of the winners last night including the overall winners Birdhill in County Tipperary.
Locally, there were national awards and gold medals for Clonegal, Kilkenny and Leighlinbridge.
Silver medals were awarded to Carlow, Inistioge and Tullahought.
County awards went to Clonegal, Leighlinbridge, Clonmore and Borris in Carlow, and Kilkenny, Inistioge, Tullahought and Goresbridge.
In the Special Awards category, The Fairy Glen Walk in Windgap won a sustainable development award and Tullahought won an Irish Water Value award.
