A Carlow woman was left shaken after disturbing a burglary during which a hatchet was left in her bedroom.
It happened on Thursday last at her home in Quinnagh, shortly after 12 noon.
Sergeant Paul Donohoe says if the burglars hadn’t been disturbed they could have got away with a lot more items than they did:
“She was only gone for a short time and when she got back to her house she noticed her back door had been forced open and when she entered, she noticed there was actually a hatchet in her bedroom.
“…It’s most likely that she probably disturbed them. There was jewellery stolen but she thinks they exited out through a window when she arrived, otherwise there would have been a lot more stolen.”
