The new members elected to Carlow county council this weekend will have to work hard to come up with a plan to stop the county becoming a cheaper option for Eirgrid.
The challenge comes from a local anti-pylon group ‘Save our Heartland’ after it emerged that Wexford county council voted to pass a motion to dramatically increase the development levies Eirgrid will have to pay for pylons from 2 thousand 500 euro to 100 thousand.
Spokesperson for the group Helena Fitzgerald says that this decision could effect where Eirgrid decide put their pylons in Carlow.
