The decision to bring East Carlow back into Carlow-Kilkenny will come before the Dáil during the Autumn term.
John Paul Phelan made the announcement while addressing Carlow County Councils monthly meeting yesterday for the first time since his appointment as Minister with special responsibility for Local Government.
The Minister also clarified that news concerning the Municipal area boundary commission will be announced in the coming month.
This was the legislation put in place which put an end to the town council.
He felt larger areas like Carlow town should receive special attention.
