A decision on whether or not a Kilkenny County Councillor will represent Fianna Fáil again lies with his party colleagues on the council.
Patrick McKee will have to wait and see what the elected members come up with.
In March 2015 Councillor Patrick McKee announced that he would be contesting the Carlow/Kilkenny by-election for newly-formed party Renua, leaving behind Fianna Fáil.
He ran in that by-election and in the General Election last year but failed to win a seat for the party.
Last December Councillor McKee announced he was parting ways with Renua and confirmed to KCLR that he would be seeking a return to Fianna Fáil.
The matter has been under consideration since – the party’s Rules and Procedures committee has dealt with it now and the decision on whether or not Patrick McKee can rejoin Fianna Fáil lies with his council colleagues at this stage.
The nine Fianna Fáil members elected to Kilkenny County Council will have to decide whether or not they want him to bring their numbers up to 10.
