Over €13 million has been paid out to farmers in Carlow under the Basic Payment Scheme so far this year.
The figures were released to Carlow TD Pat Deering by the Department of Agriculture.
1,670 applications were received from farmers in the county with almost 1,400 of those paid out to date.
Nationally, payments worth over €714 million began issuing to in excess of 109,000 farmers last week.
The local Fine Gael TD, who’s also chair of the Oireachtas Agriculture Committee, says it’s hoped this will make life a lot easier for farmers.
