More than €69,000 is heading Carlow and Kilkenny’s way as funding for rural recreation projects has been announced.
Carlow is getting €32,500, while Kilkenny is getting upwards of €36,500.
As part of the government’s Action Plan for Rural Development, nine projects across Carlow and Kilkenny have been approved for funding.
In Carlow, €8,000 has been granted for cycle routes development and promotion; €7,000 is going towards Carlow Autumn Walking Festival; €9,500 is going to Improvement works to the Carlow section of the Wicklow Way; and another €8,000 for Bahana Forest Signed Route.
Meanwhile in Kilkenny, a further five projects were successful.
The South Leinster Way is getting more than €9,000; Trail Kilkenny Directory is getting €2,410; €4,832 is going towards Freshford Loop Walk; while both Castlecomer Discovery Park and Kilkenny City River Walks are getting €10,000 each.
This funding will help with small scale maintenance and promotional materials.
A total of €11 million is being handed out to projects around the country.
