An emergency meeting of Kilkenny county council looks set to happen next Monday with members to discuss in detail the extension of Waterford’s border.
The boundary commission, set up to review the border between the 2 counties, has recommended moving part of South Kilkenny into County Waterford.
The Chief executive of Kilkenny county council Colette Byrne says the recommendation is very disappointing for the whole county but particularly for the four and a half thousand people that could see themselves effectively moving county if this is approved.
It’s now in the hands of the Minister who must bring the matter before the Oireachtas for a vote.
CEO of Waterford County council Michael Walsh says councillors there will consider the recommendations at their monthly meeting this evening and will issue their views after that.
