It’s that time of year again when you’re being encouraged to recognise the work carers across Carlow and Kilkenny do.
Family Carers Ireland are launching their annual Carer of the Year Awards today.
It’s estimated that family carers are now saving the state up to €10 billion each year and are propping up the Irish healthcare system by about €6 billion in avoided costs.
Speaking to KCLR News, Catherine Cox from Family Carers Ireland says there are two categories to nominate people in: Young Carers of the Year (under-18), and National Carer of the Year which sees a county carer from every county.
