The fight over a seat on Kilkenny County Council continues for Sinn Féin as Melissa O’Neill is now appealing her expulsion from the party.
Just last month, the Ferrybank Councillor was informed that she’d been expelled from Sinn Féin following an internal investigation.
Ms O’Neill had been suspended earlier in the year after a video emerged of her having a public argument with her neighbours and making obscene gestures.
She confirmed to KCLR News that she intended to continue to serve as an independent – despite the party claiming she signed a pledge to resign and hand the seat back to them if something like this happened.
It’s now emerged that she is appealing Sinn Féin’s decision to expel her.
Councillor O Neill was absent but sent her apologies to yesterdays meeting of the county council for that.
