The Friends of St Luke’s charity say they’re now waiting for the HSE to make the next move in relation to getting a new MRI scanner.
The charity have announced that they have finally reached their target of €250,000 for the vital equipment – following years of endless fundraising.
Planning permission for a building to house it is expected to be sought early next year.
Earlier this year the HSE said they had ring-fenced 2.45 million euro for this building and the associated costs.
Speaking to KCLR Live today, Declan McCann from the Friends of St Luke’s says they hope to have it open by the end of 2017.
