Garda resources in Kilkenny are being stretched by the need to police the Anti-CAS protest in the city.
The local Superintendent Pauric Dunne is calling on the demonstrators at Greens Bridge to agree a deal not to try and block access to the construction site.
A diesel delivery was denied access on Monday and since then the County Council have requested that the Garda help getting necessary equipment in so the work can continue.
Up to 30 Gardai have been deployed several times over the past week.
Superintendent Dunne says he’s disappointed that his officers have been meeting resistance from Anti-CAS protestors.
He claims some anti-CAS demonstrators don’t seem to understand that you can’t obstruct other people while carrying out a peaceful protest.
