We first heard from William Kelly on Cillín Hill Advisory Services on a Beef Knowledge Transfer Scheme which offers farmers an opportunity to improve efficiency and (hopefully) profitability. Joe Costelkl from the IFA Livestock committee also joined in on the conversation and then discussed opporunities for producers in foreing markets, especially China.
Cathal Bohane from Keenans spoke to Matt about animal nutrition and the options open to farmers and the emerging technologies available.
We spoke to Ciara Feehely of Vita, an African aid charity about their new publication “Growing The Potato Crop” by former Teagasc expert John Burke. Through John’s guidance, over 12,000 East African farmers have seen major improvements in crop yields.
We had our usual diary items and the weekly Kilkenny Mart Report from Michael Lynch of Cillín Hill Mart.
