First tonight we heard an interview with John Comer, outgoing President of the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association. John reflected on his 6 year term with the ICMSA.
We heard about a new market announcement for Castlecomer with the news that O’Shea Agri has been appointed to deliver the full range of Pottinger agricultural products for the South East. Richard O’Shea of O’Shea Agri and Diarmuid Claridge, MD of Pottinger Ireland joined us, as did Noel Dunne, Machinery Correspondent of the Irish Farmers Monthly.
Eric Driver of Tullow Mart joined us to discuss some current issues: sustainability of the mart sector, current prices and outlook, if there are indeed too many marts. He also discussed the need for heavy investment in electronic traceability/screen data in modern farming and the proliferation of technology in the modern mart setup.
Michael Fitzgerald of Teagasc joined us to discuss an upcoming seminar regarding the issues around the Spring workload.
