Losing a post office is like losing a lifeline in rural villages.
So says the Irish Postmasters Union who’ve announced they’ll be staging a protest outside the GPO in Dublin next week.
They’re concerned over talks that more than 80 rural post offices could be shut down by An Post in the very near future.
However, An Post says a review is underway because more than half of their post offices are making a loss.
General Secretary of the Postmasters Union, Ned O’Hara told KCLR News the loss of a service like this is devastating for rural communities.
