IT Carlow are to undertake a study on concussion in sport which is the first of its kind in the world.
It will use the retina of the eye to assess whether or not a person is concussed and to test it they’re going to monitor retinal imagery in 200 contact sports people aged from 18 to 24 years.
Participants include members of Kilkennys All-Ireland winning camogie team and League of Ireland team, Shamrock Rovers.
It’s a two year project that’s being headed up by chartered physiotherapist and lecturer, Dr Claire Lodge.
