Councillors in Kilkenny have backed a local mother’s campaign to get all teachers trained up in first aid.
Maria Condon from Ferrybank was in the public gallery with her family, including her daughter Isabelle who suffers from apnoea, at yesterday’s county council meeting.
The 6-year-old is at the centre of Maria’s bid to get teachers and special needs assistants to undergo compulsory first aid training – due to her condition Isabelle has required resuscitation on numerous occasions.
Councillor Melissa O’Neill tabled the motion which saw a unanimous agreement across party lines.
