Gardaí in Kilkenny have issued a warning today about counterfeit money doing the rounds in the City.
They’ve told KCLR News that a number of dud €50 notes have been reported to them over the past couple of days.
Sergeant Richie Thornton says there are a few ways you can tell if it’s counterfeit.
“There’s a raised print on each. By looking at it, it should have a watermark on it and a security thread which runs through the note… and we’d also ask business people to have UV lights that they can compare notes under.”
Anyone who comes across a dud note is asked to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 7775000 as it is an offence to be in possession of them.
