Kilkenny man awarded medal and certificate for “outstanding act of courage”

Eoin Bolger is one of 15 people to have been recognised

A Kilkenny man has received a national bravery award today for rescuing a man from a river late last year.

Eoin Bolger is one of 15 people to have been recognised for outstanding acts of courage.

Mr Bolger jumped into the Barrow in Graiguenamanagh after a car had become submerged and he successfully rescued the driver.

For his actions he was awarded with a bronze medal and a certificate of bravery by the Ceann Comhairle today.
