There’s been a marked difference in the percentage of ‘dot ie’ web domains being registered in Carlow and Kilkenny this year.
So far the amount of people setting up websites ended in dot ie have dipped 31% compared to the same time last year for Carlow.
While in Kilkenny, it’s the opposite – there’s been an increase of 46% already.
Nationally registrations are up 11% on last year.
David Curtain, CEO of I-E Domain Registry told KCLR News a lot of new companies are being formed so that accounts for some of the increases while other existing businesses will register a domain name when they are about to run a promotion or launch a new product.
