Aldi have announced a major new multi-million euro partnership with a Kilkenny business.
Iverk Produce, which is a fruit and vegetable wholesaler based in Piltown, will now be providing the supermarket giant with €70 million worth of Irish-grown potatoes.
The local business had already been supplying Aldi on a smaller scale since the retailer first entered the Irish market back in 1999.
John O’Shea of Iverk Produce says he’s welcoming the new agreement and says the security provided by the partnership has enabled them to invest and grow their business substantially.
Iverk currently employs over 190 people from the local community along with another 30-40 seasonal workers.
The announcement comes just a week and a half before their annual Iverk Show in Piltown as well, which is taking place on Saturday the 26th of August.
