The jobs of Staff at Elverys branches in Carlow and Kilkenny, along with those across all 56 stores, could be saved in a buyout deal.
It is understood that a commitment to preserving the jobs of all 654 employees would form part a Management Buy Out (MBO).
Headed up by Managing Director Patrick Rowland, the proposed deal for the Irish owned sports chain will be put to the High court for approval.
The staff of Elverys brances in Carlow and Kilkenny had launced a campaign through social media to keep the local stores open.
An examiner was appointed to the Irish owned sports chain in February and it’s understood that up to five companies had bid for the business, including Sports Direct, owned by UK billionaire Mike Ashley, who also owns Newcastle United.
