Locals have vowed to block traffic in protest if Bus Éireann decide to cut their Expressway route that serves Thomastown, Ballyhale, Gowran and Mullinavat.
They were told by the National Bus and Rail Union at a public meeting recently that the service is now in danger of being lost.
Thomastown Councillor Breda Gardner says the first anyone heard of the threats to the X4 service was at this meeting and people are not about to take it lying down.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Gardner said as well as personally inviting the Transport Minister, Shane Ross, to visit the areas, locals also resolved to take to the streets.
