A total of more than €259,000 has been announced for Carlow and Kilkenny’s public libraries.
Carlow is getting over €90,500 – €22,600 of which is coming from the local authority – while Kilkenny is getting significantly more at just under €168,800.
Of that, €42,000 is coming from the county council.
The money is to help with the roll-out of a new public library strategy which will be launched early next year.
Part of this new strategy is the introduction of self-service machines in local branches.
Speaking to KCLR News, Kilkenny County Librarian says introducing this service will free up staff for other purposes.
