3.7 million euro is being granted to our local councils for upgrading houses.
The funding is to be used by Carlow and Kilkenny local authorities to make more social housing available, to improve housing for people with disabilities and for retro-fitting homes for energy efficiency.
Carlow county council is getting 1.3 million and 2.4 has been set aside for Kilkenny.
Rural Affairs Minister Ann Phelan says it comes on top of recent allocations for social housing.
