The local Parks and Wildlife officer claims that a fire lit on Mount Leinster on Monday was done deliberately.
Lorcan Scott’s comments come after locals living around the area expressed concern about fires on the hill over the past few days however they’ve since been extinguished.
The local fire service has told KCLR news that NO units were called to fires there this week however they say that this time of the year is when gorse fires usually start.
Lorcan Scott says it’s not illegal to burn heather or gorse but it should be licensed so it can be controlled.
