The funeral has taken place this afternoon of Johnny Ryan from Clara who died tragically on Wednesday after a farm accident at his home.
Four separate guards-of-honour were formed outside St Coleman’s Church where Johnny has just been laid to rest.
The IFA, the Clara team that he played with in 1986, the current Clara hurlers and the Kilkenny hurlers including Brian Cody all lined up to honour the farmer and GAA stallwart.
Included amongst the people who called to the Ryan house in Dunbell to pay their condolences were GAA President Liam O’Neill, Clare hurling Manager Davy Fitzgerald and Tyrone football manager, Mickey Harte.
Johnny’s son and Kilkenny captain, Lester, thanked everyone who had helped the family through the past few days.
