The former Environment Minister has formally submitted his resignation from the Oireachtas, to take up his role as EU Commissioner.
The Fine Gael TD for Carlow Kilkenny was first elected in 1987, he’s thanked you – his constituents – for your support over the past 27 years.
His new role as EU Agriculture Commissioner take effect from tomorrow.

The election to fill the seat being vacated by Mr Hogan is set to take place early next year.
Speaking to KCLR this week, Inistioge man Bryan says he will make his decision in the next week or two.
