10 years after the campaign for a hospice in Carlow began, an open day of the new facilities is being held today.
Part of the District Hospital has been converted to include four en-suite bedrooms, a visitor’s room, a quiet room and other amenities.
Eilís Gerraghty, who’s over Carlow District Hospital says it’s fantastic to have come to the point where they’re just about ready to open fully now.
Speaking to KCLR, she says credit has to go to the generous people who worked hard to fundraise for this.
Meanwhile, Anne Byrne, who co-founded the Hospice Group in Carlow says now that the major works are done, they’re looking at decorating the interior.
And she told KCLR, she’s hoping the community might once again get involved in that regard.
They’re looking for any Carlow artists who might like to have their artwork displayed to get in touch.
