Postmasters across the country are to consider running candidates in the General Election.
Around 150 members of the Irish Postmasters’ Union are assembling in Kilkenny today where they will be discussing this idea.
The union, which represents around 90 per cent of workers in 1,100 post offices around the country, says it would serve as a message to government – on the type of country that citizens want in the future.
However General Secretary of the union Ned O’Hara nothing has been decided as of yet.
