The Environment Minister says Ireland will be fighting for some European relief funding after being battered by ‘the perfect storm’ in recent weeks.
Phil Hogan has told local authorities to compile reports on the problems in their areas and he’ll take them to the cabinet table for discussion next Tuesday.
The government’s making millions of euro in funding available to help those affected by the weather, but Minister Hogan says there’s also the prospect of some European funding in the pipeline given the scale of the problem.
