Protesters say they will step aside twice a day in Kilkenny to allow trucks access to the site where the new bridge is being built.
They came to the agreement following ongoing discussions with the Gardai who have been escorting vehicles onto the site in recent weeks.
Garda Supt Padraic Dunne confirmed to KCLR that the protesters contacted him last week and a meeting was held at Kilkenny Garda Station.
He said it was agreed at that meeting that there would be unhindered deliveries to the site at Green’s bridge twice a day at 9.30am and 4.30pm.
He also said the protesters agreed to allow all lorries to exit the site freely. As a result, there will be minimal Garda presence at the site.
In the meantime demonstrations against the Central Access scheme will continue and a special council meeting next Monday will see a motion to stop the work debated.
