New figures released by the Economic and Social Research Institute have revealed that rent prices in both Carlow and Kilkenny have increased since the last time figures were measured.
€677 is the current average rent for a private dwelling in Kilkenny, up €13 when compared to the last quarter of 2015.
Meanwhile in Carlow, the average rent is €641 euro, up €6 from the average rent at the end of last year.
When we zoom out a bit, a picture emerges of steadily increasing rent figures across both counties. This time last year, an average rent price in Kilkenny was €626 euro and €617 in Carlow.
These figures reflect a general trend across Ireland as a whole, with rent prices increasing in almost every county.
This said, this quarter has indicated that prices are not increasing at the rate they were last year. There was a rent increase of 0.5% between the latest figures and the end of 2015, compared to a 1.4% increase previously.
