Bobby Aylward says the possible closure of rural post offices is something that must be addressed immediately.
The Fianna Fail deputy raised the issue, after it emerged last weekend that an post plans to close 80 units nationwide – with that number set to rise to up to 200 units.
It follows the increase of the price of a single stamp to €1.00, as part of cost saving measures that An Post.
Speaking to KCLR news, Deputy Aylward says smaller post offices need to be retained, so rural Ireland isn’t forgotten about.
