Today marks the first Royal visit to Kilkenny since 1904 as Prince Charles & Camilla Duchess of Cornwall are due later this morning.
Security is tight with a large Garda presence in and around the city centre in particular where a number of road closures apply.
Those roads affected closed at 5am this morning and cannot be accessed until after lunchtime today when the Royal couple leave for Thomastown.
If you are hoping to make your way into the city to catch a glimpse of Charles and Camilla then the Parade is your best opportunity but Gardai are warning people to arrive early to get a good vantage point and to clear their security checks.
The VIP guests are due in after 10am this morning for a number of engagements starting at Kilkenny Castle and moving on to Cartoon Saloon
They will leave the city for a visit to Grennan Mill in Thomastown after 1pm before moving onto Kildare later this afternoon.
