16:51 – Over 12 thousand homes in Carlow are without Eircom phone services today, the second highest in the country.
The company say the South and Southwest are the worst hit areas with over 100 thousand customers without service.
They say all available staff have been diverted to the worst impacted areas across the country to restore it quick as possible.

12:31pm – Update on Nolan Park Stadium Safety and Public Health Issues
Following a meeting this morning between Council, GAA and specialist advisors the following is the position
A Specialist contractor has been appointed by the GAA to clean up asbestos debris on the roads around the Stadium and in houses and gardens affected. This work will commence shortly. Residents have been advised by the Council using local radio not to clean up asbestos, this will be followed by a leaflet drop on the basis of HSE advice. Having regard to wet and damp conditions, HSE do not believe airborne asbestos an issue.
Once the area has been cleaned, the Old Stadium roof will be stabilized tomorrow and will probably have to be removed fully.
Traffic Restrictions will remain in place

11:32am – The road between Dunbell and Bennettsbridge is closed due to fallen power lines and trees and will remain closed for some time.
The rest of the Sion Road remains open but there is a lot of fallen debris.

11:14am – O Loughlin Road in Kilkenny is totally blocked to traffic today. Gardai say to avoid the area for the foreseeable future.

10:50am – Kilkenny castle is open today but the park is closed as Bord Gais work on a ruptured Gas main there.

Emergency Tree Maintenance works will commence at 10.00a.m. on the Castlecomer Road, between the junction at Ballybought Street and NEW ROAD/Newpark Drive and also on Stephen Street.
Road Closures and Traffic management will be in operation to facilitate the works and Road-users are advised that delays can be expected.
