November of this year saw the highest number of people on trolleys in St Luke’s Hospital than any previous November.
The figures for the month have been released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation today.
When the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation started recording the trolley figures for St Luke’s Hospital back in 2010, just 50 people were waiting on a bed for the entire month of November.
Since then the figure has been steadily growing, year-on-year.
There was a spike in figures last year, when they jumped from 96 in 2014 to a staggering 339 patients on trolleys.
However, that number has been surpassed this year – according to the latest report there were 360 people without a bed in the last four weeks.
Nationally, the INMO is describing the improvement as minimal – saying the level of overcrowding last month was the worst on record for the month of November since counting began.
