89 soldiers have returned home to Ireland following a six month tour of duty in Syria.
They landed at Casement Aerodrome in Baldonnell in Dublin just after 10 this morning where they were greeted by their families.
The 43rd Infantry group were the first Irish contingent to be deployed with the United Nations Disengagement Observers Force in the Golan Heights.
They’ve been replaced in recent weeks by the 44th infantry group – a large number from that group are drawn from Stephens Barracks in Kilkenny with some local soldiers included.
