Work is finally to start on a bridge in Carlow that was badly damaged when a car crashed into it.
On Christmas Day last year, a car drove into the wall of Acaun Bridge near Tobinstown and knocked a number of its stone pillars into the water.
Nobody was injured in the collision but the damage to the bridge hasn’t been repaired since.
Local Councillor Brian O’Donoghue says because of its age, a lot of preparatory work had to be done but work will now begin on Monday the 28th of August and should last about two weeks.
