Kilkenny county council will welcome a new member to the chamber this afternoon.
Sean Tyrrell was selected on Friday night as the newest member of the council by members of the Sinn Fein party locally.
The responsibility to fill a vacancy on the council fell to the party after Kathleen Funchion was elected to the Dail last month.
This morning Sean who will be representing the Kilkenny City West area was required to submit his official papers to the local authority and later this afternoon he will take his seat in the chamber for the very first time when members meet at 3 o’ clock this afternoon.
Sean says mental health in young people is one of the areas he would like to focus on as an elected member of Kilkenny county council while eviction rates and rent increases are also on his agenda.
