Carlow County Council has been granted more than half a million euro extra from the department of housing.
Earlier this year they were awarded 1.5 million euro for housing adaptation grants for older people and those with a disability.

However, the council then wrote to the department requesting an increase in that funding because of the demand.
Director of Services for Housing in Carlow, Séamus O’Connor told KCLR News this will go a long way.
